POLICE Community Support Officer (PCSO) Louise Fyne had a work day with a difference last week when she chanced across a well known gardening TV star in West Somerset.

Louise, who has been a PCSO for 12 years and covers 250 square miles of rural area, had been visiting Lydeard St Lawrence Community Primary School when she went down a lane to try and find a mobile phone signal.

She found her way blocked by a truck and, on inquiry, it turned out to be a film crew, as gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh was busy filming for the ITV series Love Your Garden.

Louise, who has often enjoyed watching the show, asked if she could see the star.

“They called him over and it was lovely to meet him in person,” she said.

“He asked about my work and when I explained what I did, he asked if I was like the old bobbies on the beat, and he took a real interest. He was very sweet and polite – it made my day.”

And she was delighted to have the photograph to prove it!
