SIR — What a delightful way to end year 2000 with a very successful Light Up A Life Appeal.
Without the tremendous encouragement and confidence of everyone in the community, all of us at the hospice would not be facing this year with such enthusiasm.
On behalf of everyone at the hospice we would like to pass on our thanks to clubs, companies, schools, groups, businesses and sponsors who all helped to make Light Up A Life 2000 so special.
We raised over £28,395 and money is still being pledged.
National Grid so busy that Minehead street lighting repairs have to wait weeks
Sleepless night and roads blocked as hundreds gather for rave on hills above Minehead
Young Darcey aims for £500 charity fund target with half-marathon-plus run
Minehead Tesco customers help charities feed thousands of families over Christmas There were six Light Up A Life Services held throughout the county, including one at Minehead, each one of them very well supported and all delightfully different.
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported our appeal, particularly those who braved the atrocious weather to attend some of the services.
We now have our extension to the hospice in Taunton to look forward to — plans to improve the facilities should start in spring of this year. At the same time we hope to be launching our appeal to raise over £4million to build our unit in Yeovil, so fund-raising in 2001 will be very exciting. We hope you will want to be part of this.
Thank you to everyone for your help in 2000 and we hope you will continue to support us throughout 2001. Without you, we could not provide our services free to those that need us.
Deborah Hewlett,
Public Relations Officer,
St Margaret's Somerset Hospice.
