VISITORS to Exmoor and residents are being urged to celebrate this year’s Exmoor Day on October 19 by eating cake.

Organised by the Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA), ‘Eat Cake for CareMoor’ is a money-raising scheme which will involve local businesses.

An ENPA spokesperson said: “Grab a slice of cake from one of our participating businesses and not only will you get to celebrate Exmoor Day with cake, you will also be supporting vital conservation and access work across Exmoor as the business will make a CareMoor donation on your behalf.”

The date marks the annual celebration of the anniversary of the area’s designation as a National Park on October 19, 1954.

Visit Exmoor chief executive Emma Thomasson said: “On Exmoor Day we celebrate the unique and inspiring landscapes of Exmoor.

“The public are invited to join the online celebrations by sharing their favourite pictures and places to visit using the hashtag #ExmoorDay.

“Last year, there was an incredible response and it was great to see people from all over the country expressing their love of Exmoor.”

ENPA rural enterprise manager Dan James said: “Every year, Exmoor attracts in excess of two million visitors to enjoy the landscape, the wide range of attractions, and local produce available.”

This year’s Exmoor Day will also celebrate the opening of a new Porlock Marsh boardwalk, thanks to the support of the South West Coast Path Association and customers from the Best of Exmoor.

The park spokesperson said: “We would love to see as many cafes, tearooms, and eateries as possible get involved.

“It is really simple to sign up, telling us what you plan to do and we will add your business to the list of Exmoor Day 2025 Eat Cake for CareMoor Champions.”
