THE first of this year’s annual Lenten Lunches takes place tomorrow (Friday) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Minehead. It will be hosted by St Michael’s Church, Alcombe.

The weekly lunches are organised by Christians Together in Minehead and are served from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

They cost £3 a head, and the money raised will be donated to the RAFT medical research charity and the Hope Centre in Minehead.

“Everyone is welcome – the lunches provide an opportunity for meeting up and conversing as well as enjoying homemade soups,” said one of the organisers.

After today’s event, the other lunches are on the following Fridays – March 10 at St Andrew’s Church, Wellington Square, Minehead, March 17 at Alcombe Methodist Church, March 24 and 31 at the Sacred Heart RC Church in Townsend Road, Minehead, and April 7 at Minehead Methodist Church in the Avenue, Minehead.
