THESE little fellows and some of their friends enjoyed close encounters when visitors were allowed into Tropiquaria Zoo’s lemur house for the first time last weekend.

Groups of up to ten visitors spent up to half an hour sitting with, feeding and interacting with some of Tropiquaria’s collection of 20 lemurs, as part of the zoo’s campaign to highlight the plight of the animals in the wild.

“Other zoos have successfully tried this experiment and we were delighted with the result,” said Tropiquaria director Chris Moiser.

Photos of lemurs and visitors interacting with one another are in this week’s Free Press.
