Williton branch of the Royal British Legion has presented a ‘certificate of appreciation’ to Somerset county chairman Major Robert McDonald.
Williton branch president Bert Pearson handed over the certifivcate and thanked Major McDonald for his work for the organisation over many years, including as a welfare worker, and mentioned how proud the branch was to have him as a member.
Major McDonald served in the Armed Forces of the UK for 30 years. He is at present the county chairman and spends a great deal of time away visiting RBL branches and attending meetings.
Mr Pearson presented Jean McDonald with a bouquet for her role as ‘the ever tolerant chairman’s wife’. The presentation was held in Mr Pearson’s garden with about a dozen members and friends present. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and the opportunity for a socially isolated gathering.
