AFTER serving the town for 34 years, the volunteer-run Watchet Tourist Office finally signed off on Tuesday by distributing its remaining funds totalling £1,000 to four local worthy causes.
Pictured from the left are Malcolm Bale of Watchet Sea Scouts, Clare Taplin of 1st Watchet Brownies, Alex Reynard, Barry Payne of West Somerset Brass Band and Richard Binding of Watchet Town Band.
The Tourist Office closed its doors last autumn at the end of the summer season after being given notice to quit its marina-side building by landlords West Somerset Council, which planned to refurbish the property.
Visitor inquiries are now handled by staff at the new Boat Museum tourist office in Harbour Road.
Chairman and manager Alex Reynard said: “It was a sad day when the Tourist Office closed, but at least we have been able to help some valuable organisations in the town.”
