Chard 2

MINEHEAD Ladies I travelled to Chard for a friendly against a fairly young team and won 6-2.

They were a little rusty at first and Chard made a break on the right to score the first goal.

Minehead were quick to retaliate and good teamwork between midfield and attack created a goalmouth scramble which resulted in a penalty flick which Clare Hayes converted.

Good passing between Julie Stonier and Sarah Sparks put a ball forward for Stacey Bloodworth to run onto and pass for Jo Gliddon to slot the ball past the keeper.

Minehead's third goal came when Denise Lancaster's powerful shot rebounded for Bloodworth to score.

Minehead started the second half positively and Carol Matravers' skilful stickwork brought the ball out of defence for Lancaster to push the ball forward for Bloodworth to score.

Minehead's fifth goal was the result of good work on the left of the pitch between Clare Hayes and Jemma Appleby, resulting in a free hit outside the D which was swiftly taken by Matravers, who found Lancaster for a quick tidy goal.

Chard found space on the left and exploited a gap in defence to pull a goal back before Minehead scored their final goal, a string of passes setting up player of the match Bloodworth to tuck the ball past the keeper.
