I read with special interest the report in lst week’s Free Press in praise of our Coastguards.
As the walker involved, I wish to thank all the wonderful people who came to my aid when I fell in Hopcott Woods and fractured my right hip.
Firstly, the ladies walking dogs who stayed for two hours, tried to keep me warm and wore down their mobile phone batteries attempting to get help.
Secondly, the Coastguards, who were the first to arrive and carried me on a stretcher to the waiting ambulance some way down the combe.
