DAVE Cobb's bowling and Ian Wheatley's batting ensured Kilve bounced back from last week's defeat with the pair spearheading their side to a convincing 7 wicket victory over Evercreech and sewing up second place for the seasiders.
Fielding a depleted bowling attack Kilve were relieved to win the toss and give their attack first use of a wicket expected to provide some early assistance.
However, the early exchanges were dominated by the Evercreech openers Wood and Chandra who looked untroubled in taking their side to 52-0. The wiles of Dave Cobb provided the breakthrough when he trapped Chandra lbw but number three Sawney looked impervious as he took an immediate liking to the Kilve bowling, striking a cluster of boundaries.
At 111-1 Sawney and Wood seemed to be taking the game away from Kilve but overconfidence led to Sawney's demise and it was a wicket that changed the match.

At 124-4 Evercreech needed consolidation but instead they faced Dave Cobb and collapsed. Cobb gave nothing away and faced with consecutive dot balls batsman after batsman panicked and perished. Cobb removed the last four batsmen in as many overs, leaving Evercreech 164 all out having lost their last nine wickets for only 53 runs and Cobb with the figures of 5-29, a marvellous return for a reluctant bowler.
Determined to be positive in their chase Kilve sent Neil Cobb out to partner Wheatley at the top of the innings. Cobb didn't disappoint as he gave the Evercreech bowlers no chance to settle with a series of adventurous flashes and slashes. Wheatley was less entertaining but equally effective as the pair posted the fifty in the 13th over.
Not even a change in the bowling could half Kilve's momentum and both batsmen reached the fence with regularity. The total had soared to 100 when Cobb missed his attempted drive at Ough and was bowled for a flamboyant 45.
With 20 overs remaining the platform for victory had been laid and the in form Manchip soon built on this with a burst of boundaries. Wheatley progressed serenely to his 50 and began to unfurl a full range of strokes.
Manchip was unlucky to be leg before while Lloyd flattered to deceive but at 146-3 Kilve were not to be denied.
Wheatley picked off runs with ease and in company with Williams took Kilve to victory in the 38th over giving them maximum points and the double over Evercreech.
