ARTISTIC pupils at Cotford St Luke Primary School came face to face with their very own 'Bob the Builder' as part of a Keep Safe campaign. Bob – alias Bovis Homes site manager Chris Tate – called into the school to warn youngsters of the dangers of building sites and to urge them to keep safe during the summer holidays and not play in or near construction areas. Youngsters were shown the dangers of scaffolding, concrete, trenches, ladders, diggers and dumper trucks – and urged to always stay safe by keeping behind the fences. And to help reinforce the safety message, pupils were invited to enter a Keep Safe poster prize competition. Liam Brakespeare, aged ten, Georgia Greenslade, aged nine and seven-year-old Cara Edwards came first, second and third. Bovis Homes public relations officer Ruth McDonagh said: "With our Cotford Green development in the village and the summer holidays now beginning, we thought it was an ideal opportunity to remind pupils about keeping safe. "It is quite likely some of the pupils see Chris on their way to school so it is good they can meet him officially. "He explained to them in person, the importance of keeping out of the building site and keeping safe this summer. "We are hoping that by doing the presentation now, the safety messages will be fresh in their minds for the summer holidays." Prize-winning posters are pictured with Tony Satchell from Bovis Homes.
