SIR — I am writing about all the horses that are taking over our roads, and think that it's their right to annoy as many pedestrians and motorists as they can.

The worst I've seen is a mother riding her horse in Long Street, Williton, whilst her daughter rode her horse on the pavement next to her!

Why don't they have to pay road tax, as I'm sure tons of weight on four small bits of metal does a lot more damage than soft rubber tyres, and why don't they have to pick up their droppings like dog owners do, as they seem to deposit "mountains" of the stuff?

I've nothing personal against horses, but if they need to go on the road, stick them in a horse box please.
