STOGURSEY resident John Harcombe is hoping to kayak the 95km around the Isle of Wight in one day to raise funds for pioneering new research into Crohn’s Disease.
John, 47, whose son Alex has the disease, wants to raise awareness and funds for a vaccine that is hoped will cure Crohn’s Disease for good.
He will set off on July 8, or as soon after as the weather allows, and circle the island in about 12 to 14 hours.
Professor Hermon-Taylor, of Kings College London, has developed a vaccine to treat MAP infection which, if successful, could significantly attenuate or even cure Crohn’s Disease.
But fund-raising is urgently required to finish development of a new test for MAP in humans.
