The anti-hunting correspondent who seems unwilling to supply any personal information about him/herself, makes the rather dubious claim that 85 per cent of the UK population is of a like mind to themselves (Your Letters August 30).

Your pages over the years have carried many letters from the anti-brigade who choose, for whatever reason, to remain anonymous. If that is the case with the majority of protestors, then I find it rather difficult to understand how a figure of 85 per cent is determined.

Perhaps it is “a shot in the dark” which seems to occur quite literally since the hunting ban.
