AT their tournament on Sunday to celebrate the visit of Plouzane Rugby Club from Brittany, Minehead Barbarians' combined under 13 and 14 team were victorious, winning all of their matches and scoring 12 tries, conceding only two.
Their first match was against Burnham and Minehead started well, spinning the ball down the line to give centre Alex Burgess the room to beat the cover and score in the corner.
They were soon on the attack again and won a penalty close to the Burnham line, a quick tap was taken and the ball passed to Bradley Humphries who ran in for the second try.
Further fine individual runs from Humphries and scrum half Luke Milton in the second half gave Minehead a resounding 20-0 victory.

As in the match against Burnham, the scoring was opened with fine individual tries by Burgess and Humphries, but the powerful Plouzane forwards won plenty of ball and kept the French team in the game.
Late in the first half, Minehead were beating back attack after attack but eventually their defence was breached when a fine move across the width of the field allowed their wing to squeeze in at the corner.
Humphries scored again early in the second half to restore Minehead's lead to ten points and Burgess scored his third try of the day to make the game safe.
Plouzane scored a deserved consolation try on the stroke of full-time but it was too late to alter the final result as Minehead celebrated a 20-10 victory.
Minehead's final match was against old rivals North Petherton and they again set the early pace, collecting the ball from Petherton's kick-off and passing out to Humphries who ran in his fifth try of the day from his own half.
Two minutes later Minehead were again on the attack and when it appeared the chance had gone begging when a move broke down about five metres out, quick-thinking Tim Hosdell scooped up the loose ball and drove over for a well-taken second try.
The first half was rounded off with a fine long-range try by Luke Milton to make the score 15-0.
By this time both teams were tiring and the second half was comparatively quiet. However, Minehead scored one further try through Robert Webber, whose strong running throughout the day had contributed to many of the tries scored by other players, making it 20-0.
With three victories, Minehead won the tournament, and Plouzane won their final match against Burnham to finish as runners-up.
