ST Peter’s Church, in Williton, was packed on Friday evening (June 2) to welcome a new member of the clergy team.
Kathryn Flenley was licensed by Archdeacon Simon Hill as associate vicar for the joint benefice to work with vicar the Rev Clive Gilbert and all the church members.
Members of local groups, including the schools, Somerset County Council and the local councils, Cameo and the Dementia Action Alliance, presented symbolic welcoming gifts.
The joyful service was a big celebration for family and friends, including Kathryn’s grandchildren.
Watchet’s turn came on Sunday, when Kathryn celebrated at the Pentecost benefice communion at St Decuman’s.
She is pictured surrounded by the assembled clergy and readers of the joint benefice of Watchet and Williton, local churches and clergy friends.
