What a wonderful write-up in the Free Press for the Watchet Music Festival, and also a fab letter from Michael Phillips (August 31).

In relation to what happened “behind the scenes” when Mark Bale was taken ill, no one who was out front would have known what was going on.

Jackie Bale, like the trooper that she is, stepped up to take on what she herself says was a very daunting task, doing something for which she was totally unprepared, although you would never have known.

As she said, you have to dig deep and get on with it and by golly she did.

With a great band of helpers behind her who went the extra mile (and they know who they are) the show went on - and what a show.

Top class acts in all three venues on the field, happy go lucky people really enjoying themselves (despite some patches of awful weather), fun and games for the children, peace and quiet in the churches’ tent, brilliant craft and artisan stalls, the silent disco, a fancy dress parade and some amazing food vendors.

A great time had by all and not a glitch!

So when you are telling your friends what a wonderful time you had at Watchet Festival, say a big thank you to a special lady for making it happen. Jackie you are a star!
