SIR — Re the residents of Woodcombe opposing a plan for housing there, do we not all live in dwellings which are built on what were once green field sites, so why quibble?
I completely agree with Peter Crosland (Your Letters February 15), writing about a different planning decision, in which he argued that councillors are not elected to follow the electorate's every wish.
May I add that planning officers and the councillors on the planning committee also have to take into consideration the silent majority who live in the area and do not object to an application.
With my friend, I live on what was, until four years ago, the very outskirts of Bridgwater but is now an area which has seen immense development.
