SIR — You show an image of a proposed design for Williton Council offices put forward by Cllr Gliddon (Free Press August 5). The concept design was created by a partnership of architects in Stockport. Stockport is a large post-industrial city, on the outskirts of Manchester in Lancashire. Perhaps the concept might go down well with the people of Stockport, but Williton is a small West Country town. The proposal is quite out of character with other buildings in the neighbourhood. Why did Cllr Gliddon commission a Stockport architect to create this improbable design? There are local architects who may have welcomed his commission, and who would have been familiar with the style of buildings in West Somerset. Jon Summers Whitefield, Williton.
