SIR — I was horrified to see the Government's action in closing Remploy factories for disabled people, and would like to add my voice of protest to Mrs Tracey Heard's (Your Letters, August 3).

I have always felt that, as a society, we cared for the weaker members, particularly the disabled, for whom Remploy was a brilliant solution.

It seems to me, as a pensioner of 92, this step really represents a move to the bottom of the cruelty range.

The present Government does not have a mandate for all the horrors they are inflicting and I for one feel that it is time for us to revolt.

They will certainly find out when the next election comes.
