SIR — The long spell of cold weather has led to deterioration in road surfaces and dangerous potholes are appearing in villages such as ours where there are little or no footpaths for pedestrians.
Together with the increase in heavy traffic, including extra large farm vehicles and enormous fuel tankers (necessitated because domestic oil deliveries here must serve several customers throughout the area), this has resulted in several hazardous sections, one of which, to my knowledge, has already resulted in injury to a pedestrian.
I feel sure vehicle damage to an unsuspecting motorist (or cyclist) will soon follow if the defects are not remedied soon.
The areas I have seen occur at either end of the village and the injury I know of happened in the vicinity of the Valiant Soldier last month.
