NEVILLE Gabie – artist in residence London 2012 Olympics – is inviting people to meet him on Saturday, September 12, to talk about what living in Watchet is really like.

It is part of the preparations for the first exhibition in the new gallery at East Quay, which opens next summer, that will include a collection of glass bottles containing people’s feelings about the town.

Neville will be meeting small, socially distanced groups – up to six people in an outside space – to explain more about the project and how to take part in the exhibition. There will be a number of sessions throughout the day.

Anyone who would like to take part is asked to email Alison Hoare, creative assistant at ContainsArt, at [email protected]. Neville will be in Watchet at various times throughout the coming months, so anyone who would like to get involved but cannot make September 12 should get in touch with Alison to arrange another slot.

“These conversations are intended to be relaxed and fun,” said Alison.

“We will also show examples of bottles already made, so people can talk through their ideas and find out if anyone else had found things easy or difficult. There is also a supply of basic materials available from the Visitor Centre.”
