THE life stories of some of Minehead's elders have been brought to life as part of an exhibition staged by year eight pupils at Minehead Middle School.

The exhibition is the culmination of a collaboration between school pupils and members of the local University of the Third Age (U3A).

Earlier this year U3A members met pupils and toured the school as part of a biography project, which aimed to bring both younger and older members of the community together.

Now the students have put together an exhibition of their work, illustrating the life stories of their U3A 'heroes'.

Headteacher Paul Rushforth said many of Minehead's residents had led rich and fascinating lives and the children had been writing to U3A members before meeting to talk to them in person.

He said: "There were some truly inspiring stories and our pupils had a real surprise."
