CHILDREN at Knights Templar First School in Watchet were presented with a 'mosaic of sound and vision', inspired by an earlier trip to the seaside, on Wednesday.

The pupils were encouraged to use the sights and sounds from their trip as inspiration for the creation of a range of colourful prints using recycled fabrics.

While the prints were used as the basis for the mosaic, the children also created their own musical instruments from beach treasures and then recorded the sounds.

The musical collaboration was then played to the school as the the finished piece was officially unveiled this week.

The mosaic and musical workshop were part of a project spearheaded by Somerset-based groups the High Park Music Project and Urban Chintz, with the aim of encouraging children to enjoy and appreciate their local environment.
