The occasional shower of rain did not stop visitors flocking to Porlock Open Gardens last weekend.

With 20 gardens on show across the village, visitors got to see a range of garden types and gain inspiration from green fingered residents.

And there was also the chance to purchase a Pimms, gin or fizz from new Porlock-based business The Taylor’d Tipple, a Piaggio Tuk Tuk lovingly converted into a mobile bar, which was based in one of the gardens.

This year’s event raised more than £1,400, which will go towards the running of Porlock Visitor Centre, which organised the event.

Centre manager Wendy Powell said: “I can’t thank the garden owners enough for participating in the Porlock Open Gardens weekend.

“Without their hard work and willingness to open we wouldn’t have an event which is enjoyed by increasing numbers each year.

“£1,400 is a wonderful amount to have raised to help fund Porlock Visitor Centre and we look forward to an even bigger and better event next year.”

Anyone who purchased a ticket can keep hold of it and use it to gain two-for-one entry to Greencombe Gardens on any afternoon until July 31.
