WEST Somerset ambassadors Hazel Howley and Jan Huckle will be encouraging people to consider a career in adult social care as part of national 'I Care . . . Ambassadors' week.

Hazel, who works at Wyndham House residential home in Minehead and Jan, who works for Somerset Care's West Somerset community services, act as ambassadors for Care Focus.

The not-for-profit organisation helps to promote excellence in care and both Hazel and Jan actively promote the positive side of working in social care.

They recently gave a presentation about their work to students at West Somerset College and will be attending a special employment event in Minehead next week.

The Journey to Employment session takes place at the Beach Hotel in Minehead next Wednesday (February 12) and coincides with the national "I Care . . . Ambassadors" week which runs from February 10 to February 14.

Anyone interested in a career in adult social care can go along to the event between 2pm and 3.30pm to find out at first hand what it is like to work in the sector and what qualifications can be achieved.
