Yeovil Youth Council is to produce a fold-out leaflet that gives young people information on important issues such as benefits and housing.
It is hoped to start work on the leaflet in late April and have it printed and ready for distribution at the start of the autumn term.
Youth councillors will meet for workshops at Morley House, Yeovil, on a fortnightly basis to help compile and design the leaflet.
The type of leaflet is already used by Somerset County Council, and the printer they use has quoted a price of £4,000 for 10,000 copies.
To help fund the project, the senior youth worker, who oversees the project, is working to attract sponsors and advertisers.
Yeovil Town Council has also agreed to transfer an outstanding amount of £956 from last year's youth council budget to th project, providing they could look at the proposed design before releasing the money.
