IMAGINATIVE flower arrangements, depicting subjects ranging from stained glass and silver-smithing to willow-weaving and wood-turning, inspired by the 19th century arts and crafts movement, are currently on display at Carhampton Flower Festival in St John the Baptist Church until Monday (August 28).

Due to repairs to the church, Carhampton Flower Club was unable to stage the festival last year.

But this year, a total of 21 dazzlingly ambitious floral displays draw inspiration from all aspects of the arts and crafts movement which revolutionised art and design, pioneered by major figures including Pugin, John Ruskin, and William Morris.

There are floral tributes to artists like Monet, Winifred Ethel Walker, local sculptor Rachel Reckitt, and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Other displays depict crafts like quilting, pottery, tapestry, lace-making, knitting, and thatching.

Also on show are floral interpretations of copperwork, corn dollies, bell-ringing, and blacksmithing.

Refreshments will be served throughout the day and there is also a craft stall.
