SIR — I would like to congratulate Butlins on their series of pop shows, which is ongoing at the moment.

So there is a little bit of noise - so what?!

I am sure the complainers in the town are not traders. The trade generated at this time of year is invaluable, especially after a disastrous start to the year with foot and mouth.

Who kept the town going? Butlins and its customers. They are to be commended not condemned.

Living in The Avenue we also heard the music but it most definitely was not a nuisance and did not keep us awake.

We had more disturbance from the brass bands in Blenheim Gardens every Sunday through the summer.

Are these people the same ones who complained about the firework displays?

I also trust these 15 or so complainers do not think they represent the majority of residents in the town.

Well done Butlins. I truly hope these concerts go from strength to strength.

As long as they cease at a reasonable hour there really is no reason for complaint, and if these complainers do not like the situation, maybe they should think of moving to the middle of Exmoor.

Mrs S Owen,

The Avenue,
