SIR — My name is Tom Easterby and I was the Olympic torchbearer who ran through the lovely village of Williton on Monday.

I just wanted to write and say thank to each and every one of you who came out to support and cheer me on - it meant so much to me.

I felt really nervous but excited while I was waiting for my torch to be lit.

When I started running, you were cheering and shouting my name, and I felt very special and started to relax and enjoy the moment.

When I got to the end I just wanted to do it all over again - it all seemed to go so fast!

I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who came, the atmosphere of the village and the kindness you showed my family and me.

Thank you for sharing my special day and for helping make it one of the best days of my life and a day I will never forget. With love and thanks.
