SIR — I would like to thank all the members of the Watchet Remembrance Project for the wonderful Remembrance Service held on June 28. After four years and a lot of worry with the town, district and county councils, they finally were able to go ahead and have that unique war memorial unveiled. The weather wasn't too bad but it was a disappointment that the World War Two Lysander aircraft that was coming from Langport to drop poppies couldn't take off due to cloud cover and thunderstorms. The doves of peace made up for it ;what a lovely thought. I think a lot of us were glad we had our sunglasses on to cover the emotional side to everything, I know I had! It was all amazing and hundreds of us will never forget what the Watchet Remembrance Project achieved - a war memorial to the 56 Watchet men who lost their lives in the two world wars. Jenny Hill, Brendon Road, Watchet.
