On Wednesday May 20, my wife went to post a letter in the post box at the bottom of Parkhouse Road. At 1.30pm when she had not returned and after I had driven in search of her, I telephoned Avon and Somerset Police on their 101 number.
Immediately the police launched an extensive search, including their Dedicated Search Squad, helicopter and drone. They were joined by the Exmoor Search and Rescue team, the RNLI, and HM Coastguard together with numerous individuals, many of whom were unknown by me, but who had been informed of the search via Social Media.
Jean was eventually found at Burgundy Chapel Coombe at 9pm, she was dehydrated, sunburned and exhausted, but otherwise relatively unscathed. She was stretchered to Greenaleigh where she was examined by paramedics and transferred to Musgrove Park Hospital for further examination, after which she was discharged and returned home at 4.30 am.
I cannot find words to thank all those involved, their professionalism, dedication, care and kindness leave me feeling very humbled and grateful that we live in such a compassionate community. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Robert Partridge, Western Lane, Minehead.
