CONCERNS that prolonged dry weather and high temperatures would leave little to be exhibited at Porlock Horticultural and Crafts Society summer show were quickly dispelled.

Only fruit was significantly impacted, with most soft fruit ripening and being eaten well before the show.

Flower and vegetable sections were well supported, and Porlock Village Hall was filled with sweet peas, roses, hydrangeas, gladioli, and many other seasonal flowers and foliage.

Vegetables included potatoes, parsnips, onions, beans, and sweetcorn, all showing the skills of growers in dealing with challenging weather.

The decorative section was low, but each was a beautiful arrangement capturing the given theme.

The photography section, with themes including ‘On the Beach’, ‘Life on Exmoor’, and ‘Feathered Friends’, was popular and entrants gave lots of thought.

Fir cone fairies in the children’s section were fun, showing the village clearly had some talented youngsters.

Cups and trophies were presented by Porlock Town Crier Grant Dennis.
