MINEHEAD Community Hospital this morning celebrated Nurses’ Day - which falls on Florence Nightingale's birthday, May 12 - by clapping for all NHS around the country and the local businesses who have been so supportive.
Senior Ward Sister Hayley Welsh led the clap at 11am for all colleagues – from the nurses to the administration support, the cleaners, the caterers and the porters to the doctors.
“Not one department could run without the other,” said a spokesman. "We are one team united, working to provide outstanding patient care.
“This trust-wide clap was made to support all NHS staff whether they are working on the frontline or staying safe and working from home.
“We would also like to again thank the local community for supporting us during this time. Whether you have donated items to us or simply drawn a rainbow of support and put it on your window.
“This unity has been seen and demonstrated every week by our community and we are thankful and humbled by the level of support.
“To all of the other key workers who are working to help support our local community our thanks also goes to you. Like us you are continuing to support us and the rest of our community during these unprecedented times – so to everyone in the community, please take care and stay safe.”
