PORLOCK Allotment Society is to help pupils to create a small space for growing vegetable crops at the village school. St Dubricius' School's allotment is designed so that the children - including those in the nursery - will not have to stretch too far to reach their crops and help to tend them. There will be four beds - one for each class - with paths in between, all created by an allotment society team led by Dr Mark Wilton. Head teacher Chris Blazey said: "When Dr Wilton approached me about this idea, I was really keen because it will support one of our goals - to promote healthy lifestyles for our pupils. "We cannot wait for our first crops!" All the children are involved in the project, which will also support their science and nature studies.
