DR Winifred Kingsbury, later Anderson, who lived in West Quantoxhead and died last year, was remembered during a service in St Paul’s Cathedral.
She was among those named in the Priory of England and the Islands of the Most Venerable Order of The Hospital of St John of Jerusalem’s annual service of commemoration and re-dedication on June 22.
Dr Winifred, Commander of the Order, was remembered among the many others who had died during the previous year.
She was a strong supporter of St John Ambulance and the St John Ambulance Nursing Cadets at St Audries School and was appointed the area and later Somerset county surgeon.
She was medical officer at St Audries School, a full-time GP at Williton Surgery, and a licensed lay reader at St Audries. She was awarded an MBE in 2014.
Duncan and Jane Stafford, of Minehead St John Fellowship, and Ruth Joyce, of Taunton Fellowship, attended the service and were both privileged to bear and escort the St John Fellowship national standard during the service.
They also joined the long procession that included representatives of the order from across the world.
