THE Rt. Hon. Lord Paddy Ashdown of Norton-sub Hamdon KBE was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree by Bournemouth University.

The award was made to recognise Lord Paddy's outstanding contribution to public life in the United Kingdom and his diplomatic work abroad. The award also recognised his support for and contribution to the Joint University Centre in Yeovil.

The Joint University Centre in Yeovil is a partnership between the Universities of Bournemouth, Exeter and Yeovil College. Over 500 higher education students are now enrolled on courses at the centre. It offers a wide range of programmes from certificates to masters level on a full or part time basis.
