Military fire crews serving the area have coped well during the second strike period.

Milford Infant School in Yeovil was evacuated by staff on Monday when an automatic fire alarm activated.

A Green Goddess attended, but a closer examination revealed it was a false alarm.

The incident log also revealed that crews dealt with a fuel spillage in Chard and a chimney fire in Hardington Mandeville on Friday last week.

The following day there was a hoax caller reporting a fire in the Lufton Manor part of Yeovil.

Another caller correctly reported a car fire in Chard, which was dealt with.

A Green Goddess later put out a car fire in South Petherton.

Crews were also called to an accommodation block at Lufton Manor College, Yeovil, which proved to be a hoax call.

A car fire in Middle Chinnock was dealt with on Sunday.

Social Services premises in Thatcham Park were also visited when alarms went off.

Cooking fumes had activated the alarms, and the occupants were asked to reset them after it had been established that no other action was needed.

A firework went through a window at The Dolphin, Ilminster, on Monday but, fortunately, there was no fire.
