A TRIO of Hinkley Point B staff will be swapping their normal jobs at the power station to support the London 2012 Paralympics as official 'games makers'.

Louise Savage, Bruce Eyley and Pete Vaiders will all be acting as official games volunteers as employees of major sponsor and Hinkley B owner, EDF Energy.

Louise works in the power station's finance department and will be helping to ensure the rowing events at Eton Dorney run smoothly.

She had to compete in numerous tasks against other EDF Energy applicants to win the role.

"Although I wasn't too 'technical' in my outlook during these tasks, I think my organisational skills helped clear the way into the final stages of training," she said.

"I met some inspiring individuals during the training that made the opportunity even more of an honour for me.

"Everyone was really friendly and I'm just excited and proud to be part of it all."

Bruce, a site inspector, and operations engineer Pete will also be donning games maker kits.

Station director Mike Harrison said: "The incredible success and positive feelings generated by the Olympics have surpassed everyone's expectations and without doubt the fabulous games maker volunteers were crucial to that.

"I know that Louise, Bruce and Pete will play their part as volunteers in making the Paralympics another smoothly-run operation and a wonderful and happy event beyond all expectations too."

EDF is providing 240 games maker volunteers for the London 2012 games.

The Paralympics began this week and end on September 9.
