A GRANT of £132,294 has been awarded to St Margaret’s Hospice from Hinkley Point C’s community fund to expand the charity’s community nursing teams.
Community nurses manage symptoms and medication and guide families through advanced care planning, working closely with other healthcare professionals.
HPC Somerset community fund senior programmes manager Amelia Thompson said: “This funding ensures that people living with terminal illness get compassionate care in the comfort of their homes.
“It also provides vital emotional and practical support for families during incredibly difficult times.”
The hospice funding will support care across areas of West Somerset including Nether Stowey.
HPC head of stakeholder relations Andrew Cockcroft said: “We are proud to help strengthen local hospice services and support communities impacted by the development of Hinkley C.”
