Voluntary organisations which looked after the vulnerable during the last lockdown will be back in action again over the next four weeks.

In MINEHEAD town councillor Tony Bloomfield is appealing for more volunteers to cope with an increased demand for meals on wheels and other services, including shopping, for vulnerable people in Minehead, Carhampton, Timberscombe and Dunster. Cllr Bloomfield can be contacted on 07538 838307.

In PORLOCK a community initiative helpline – 01643 863150 – is now open daily from 10am to 12.30pm to give aid and advice.

“Volunteers are also delivering 900 four-page leaflets to every home in the village providing information on available shops, takeaways and other service,” said Porlock information centre manager Deborah Stanyon.

In WATCHET, the Good Neighbour scheme, keeping in touch with isolated people and providing help and support, will be reactivated for the period of the lockdown. Details will be announced later.
