CHRISTMAS wrapping started early for members of the Monstas Inc. after-school club in Dunster. After watching a film in assembly on Operation Christmas Child, pupils from the village's first school demonstrated their wholehearted support for the initiative to help children less fortunate themselves share some seasonal spirit. An appeal resulted in many pupils filling and wrapping their own boxes filled with gifts at home, as well as sending in generous contributions. And pensioners from nearby Riverside Gardens also played their part in the appeal. Together with school staff they sponsored the cost of sending off all 70 boxes that were filled. A club spokesman said: "We consulted the children in the club before we embarked on this project and they were all up for it. "Watching the film moved the rest of the school and the response has been better than ever. "We would like to say a big thank you to the parents who supported us and our great friends at Riverside too. "This has been a great community effort that will benefit a community in another part of the world."
