A NEW idea to help people with memory loss is being taken up by Watchet area Dementia Action Alliance.
Signs are being put up in some customer toilets to help those who become confused about finding the way out.
The Corner Café in Watchet now displays a sign to help people get back to their table after using the facilities, and some branches of Sainsbury’s are doing it, too.
Margaret Tatham, of Watchet DAA, said: “Have you ever got lost on your way back from the toilet? Have you noticed that the signs take you there but don’t guide you out? Have you ever walked into a cupboard and come out with a very red face?
“We at Watchet area Dementia Action Alliance have done all of these, so we are working with local cafés, shops and pubs to help people get to the right place.”
She said Watchet DAA was not the first to use the signs but it would hope the idea would grow and that other businesses would take up the idea.
