RESIDENTS at Healeys, Magna Housing’s sheltered housing scheme in Porlock, have donated £400 each to four charities close to their hearts.

Over the last ten years, the residents have raised a lot of money from social events such as coffee mornings and bingo.

David Kendall, Magna resident and treasurer for the residents’ group at Healeys for the last ten years, said: “As a lot of the money was raised by residents who have now passed away, I suggested that we use it for charitable causes.

“The group chose Alzheimer’s Society, St Margaret’s Hospice, Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation as it is likely that some of our residents would need support from these charities in the future.”
