SIR — I was very surprised to read the letter from David Wootton (Free Press August 19) regarding our MP Ian Liddell-Grainger as our experience has been just the opposite. 

When we came to live here three years ago we were desperate to get our daughter, who has special needs, in to care. 

The places suggested were not suitable, but as we felt that we were not getting anywhere, we emailed Mr Liddell-Grainger who replied immediately to offer his support and contact the relevant people for us. 

Within days a suitable place was found for her. 

I emailed him to thank him for his support and he again replied straight away to say he was pleased at the outcome.

Now whether he actually solved our problem I don't know, but I do know that he reacted with great speed and concern.We are very grateful to him and would like this put on record.
