I read of Minehead’s mayor’s move to an independent with a lot of sympathy (and I should state that I believe politics has NO role in town or parish councils).

So his conscience made him vote because of a moral sense of right and wrong. Well hallelujah. It should never be wrong to act upon the truth and your conscience, but it would appear that some do – how sad for local politics!
