KINGSBROMPTON Young Farmers Club has shown its appreciation of the help given when one of its teenage members was taken seriously ill.

It has presented cheques for £300 each to the children’s unit at Musgrove Hospital in Taunton and Bristol Children’s Hospital.

As a result of the care given to the youngster, Kingsbrompton YFC and the wider Brompton Regis community wanted to help support these hospitals in what they do for families facing similar circumstances.

Last Christmas, the YFC went around the villages and outlying farms carol singing. In February, villagers organised a pancake party on Shrove Tuesday. The combined events raised £600 to be split between the two hospitals.

A presentation was made and cheques dispatched at the Young Farmers’ Big Breakfast for Fathers’ Day held in Brompton Regis Village Hall on Sunday (June 17).

Brompton Regis’ resident associate vicar, the Rev Paul Kingdom said: “It is only when a youngster in your local community falls seriously ill you appreciate the medical skill of these two hospitals and also the support they give to the family.

“Both the Young Farmers and the wider community wanted to show their appreciation and local people generously supported us”.
