The weekend saw Minehead host hundreds of cyclists as town centre streets were closed for the Minehead Grand Prix.

The sporting spectacular saw cyclists from the young to old, local and from across the country, take part in events on Saturday and Sunday over a course around The Avenue, Blenheim Road and North Road.

It was jointly organised by Minehead Cycling Club and Minehead BID and supported by Minehead Town Council, local businesses, sponsors and charities including Gateway Events, the Regal Theatre and the Methodist Church Hall.

Cycling club secretary Paul Atkinson said: “Some of our main objectives were both to entertain and inspire by example, for everyone to improve their own health and well-being, and we hope those who attended the event will dust down their bikes and trainers to enjoy the superb open spaces offered in the town and our stunning countryside.”
