THE new events team of the Dulverton Traders Association organised the first-ever Halloween in Dulverton event on Saturday with a fun day for all ages.

Dulverton High Street look suitably ghoulish, with the shops putting in huge amounts of effort decorating their windows, and the feedback from tourists and locals was of excitement and encouragement.

The events team organised a witch hunt, where witches with different coloured hats were hidden in traders’ windows and on the Facebook pages or websites of other businesses in the town.

There was a fancy dress competition with prizes for different age groups, a guess the weight of the pumpkin competition and a pumpkin carving competition.

There was also a raffle, with all proceeds going back into the association kitty to help towards building a town website, running more community events and increasing Dulverton’s profile.

The recently re-banded Dulverton Traders Association is a network of traders and businesses based in town and the surrounding areas who have come together with a unified goal - to support their community by creating and organising events and initiatives to raise the footfall and increase awareness of the town itself.

The group is aiming to start small, gain trust and encourage involvement.

It is open to any business or trader, on the proviso that they are willing to work together as a community, help each other and make objective decisions for the good of the town and its economy.
