SIR — I read with interest your report “Action plan hopes to put an end to loneliness” (Free Press November 13) and was impressed with all the suggested actions listed.

Loneliness is a major problem, especially for people who are hard of hearing, and in particular for those with age related hearing loss.

It is difficult to make new friends or even keep up with old friends when you cannot easily - or even at all - follow a conversation.

Taunton Hard of Hearing Club meets two minutes’ walk from Taunton bus station at the Scout and Guide Centre on Castle Street, where there is also limited parking available.

We all have hearing difficulties of different degrees and we have a reputation for friendliness. We have an excellent loop system for those with hearing aids.

We meet monthly and have interesting talks, outings and social time. We would be happy to accompany anyone from the bus station if wished.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday November 26 from 2pm to 4pm and our speaker will talk about stained and fusion glass.

If you would like more information email [email protected] or write to me at the address below.
